Volunteer Opportunities
Animal Handling Volunteers
Help with the day to day work at the Center. From hand feeding
baby mammals and birds, caring for injured adults, laundry,
dishes, etc., these volunteers help
with all aspects of wildlife rehabilitation. Animal Handling Volunteers are required
to volunteer at least one 4-hour shift each week, April – September, with
morning hours available October – March.
Support Volunteers
Help keep the Center running. There is no specific time commitment; because of
this, Support Volunteers are not allowed to work in direct contact with the animals.
Support Volunteers clean cages, do laundry, dishes, errands, paperwork, etc.
If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out this form.
Internship Opportunities
FVWC has two different internship opportunities available. Interns work 20 hours
per week, May through August. No experience is necessary. To apply, please send
your resume with a cover letter to our mailing address or email. You must be
at least 18 years old to apply. FVWC will work with any higher education facility
to help obtain course credit.
Wildlife Rehabilitation Internship
Wildlife Rehabilitation Interns learn the basics of wildlife rehabilitation from
our specialists at the Center. Interns help with all aspects of daily animal
care, from hand feeding infant mammals and birds to medicating and caring for
injured adults. Basic cleaning and food prep is required.
Wildlife Center Public Relations Internship
Interns will help with all aspects of dealing with the public at the Center,
including (but not limited to): answering phones, public education, intake of
orphaned and injured animals, donation coordination and light merchandise sales
in the intake area.
Release Sites Needed
FVWC must have permission from the landowner to release rehabilitated
animals back into the wild. Each species has different needs in its
habitat. Therefore, the release sites need to be appropriate for these
needs but not be overcrowded with others of the same species.
If you know of any potential release sites, please email
us with the owner’s
name, address, phone number, total acreage, and what species you are willing
to accept. Our staff will then review the site and determine if it is acceptable.
Residential areas will not be considered.

Empty Inkjet Printer Cartridges
Participate in FVWC’s newest fundraiser! Pre-addressed, postage-paid mailer
bags are available by request from the Center. Just place your used inkjet printer
cartridges in the bag and drop it in the mail. FVWC will receive $2 for each
cartridge through the Cash for Critters program.
Aluminum Cans
This fundraising effort brings in much needed money for FVWC each month. Save
your cans in trash bags and drop them off ANYTIME at the Center.
Matching Gifts
Check to see if the company you work for is a matching gift company. A matching
gift company will match your donations (and sometimes volunteer work) with an
equal or greater donation. Check with your personnel office for details.
